Although it is rare, shipments do get lost or damaged. To cover yourself in such instances and to provide yourself with peace of mind, prepare your shipments for transit with insurance coverage. Chit Chats Insurance is a low-cost and effective way to insure your shipment’s contents against loss or damage. Shipments are insured from the moment they are received by Chit Chats until final delivery by our partner carriers to your recipient. Chit Chats Insurance does not cover shipments while they are in transit to Chit Chats.

Am I required to insure my shipments?

While we strongly encourage adding Chit Chats insurance to your shipments, it is not a requirement for shipping. By default your eligible shipments are opted in to Chit Chats Insurance however, you can opt out at any time.

Isn’t my shipment already covered by carrier insurance?

Some carriers provide basic insurance coverage for select postage types, but carrier insurance does not cover your shipments  until they are received by the partner carrier. This means the carrier insurance does not provide coverage while your shipments are with Chit Chats. Coverage will only begin once your shipment has been handed off to the partner carrier and they have scanned the shipment into their system. This is usually indicated by a tracking update showing the shipment has been received by the partner carrier.
