Why you may want to consider Chit Chats Collect for your shipments
Chit Chats Collect is our fully tracked service that makes use of the Chit Chats network to expedite shipments across Canada for your customers to pick up at a Chit Chats branch near them. Recipients located in British Columbia and Ontario can also make use of Chit Chats lockers as an easy and secure way to pick up their packages.
Rates are cheaper than our other Canadian postage options with a delivery timeframe of 1-3 business days for local shipments and 3-8 days for national (out of province) shipments. It is an ideal service for busy entrepreneurs and their recipients who greatly value cost savings and are located within 12 km of a Chit Chats branch. Clients can expect to pay as little as $4.99 for small shipments sent within the same province (local) or $8.99 for small shipments sent to another province (national).

This service is ideal for your smaller shipments weighing 11 lbs or less and with maximum dimensions of 34 cm x 42 cm x 20 cm. Chit Chats Collect is also eligible for up to $400 USD in coverage with Chit Chats Insurance available within your account. Adding insurance to your Chit Chats Collect shipments is quick, affordable and easy.
How does Chit Chats Collect work?
Offering Chit Chats Collect to your Customers
If you sell items on an ecommerce website, you can offer this cost-saving service to your customers by adding a field to your checkout process to give your customers the option of picking up shipments at a Chit Chats Branch.
Buying Chit Chats Collect Postage
Once you are ready to ship, simply create your shipment as you would normally and if your shipment is eligible, Chit Chats Collect will be listed as an available postage option in the “Postage” step. If a Chit Chats locker is available for your shipment, it will appear as an option in the drop down (BC and Ontario only at this time). From here you will be asked to input either the recipient's phone number or email and select their preferred branch to pick up their shipment. This information will be used to let your recipient know by email and/or SMS when their shipment is ready to be picked up or when they can reserve a Chit Chats locker to collect their shipment. Please note that Chit Chats Collect will not show as an option for qualified shipments when importing from your connected store or Chit Chats API. (This will be available in future developments)
As with all of the shipment types we accept, your Chit Chats Collect packages must be sorted upon their arrival at Chit Chats. You should sort your Chit Chats Collect shipments alongside any Canadian shipments you may be dropping off.
How do I pick up my Chit Chats Collect shipment?
Chit Chats Collect
Once a shipment becomes available for pickup at the desired branch, the recipient will receive a notification by SMS or email containing a link to view the shipment tracking or reserve a pickup window. This link will always begin with chitchats.com and we will never ask your recipient for payment or other personal information via SMS or email. If you have not received a notification and it is past the estimated delivery date, please check your spam folder as it may be incorrectly filtered to junk mail.
When picking up a shipment, recipients must provide one of the following:
- Full name of the recipient
- Shipment ID
Chit Chats Lockers
Once a shipment is ready to be collected, the recipient will receive a notification by SMS or email with a link to schedule a date and time for pick up. Once the booking has been confirmed, the recipient will receive a confirmation along with the address, hours of operation as well as the barcode and/or pin needed to collect their shipment from the locker.
You can collect a shipment from a Chit Chats Locker two ways
Manual Entry
- Tap anywhere on the screen to begin
- Press the PICKUP button at the bottom of the Welcome Screen
- Scan or enter the pickup code provided via SMS or email. The locker containing the parcel will open, and the location of the locker door will be presented on the screen.
- Remove the parcel from the locker and close the door when finished.
- After removing the parcel, your pickup is complete and your tracking will now show the shipment has been delivered. Tap on the OK button on the screen to return to the Welcome Screen.
Contact Free (email notification only)
- Scan the barcode provided via email. SMS notifications will not display a barcode. The locker containing the parcel will open, and the location of the locker door will be presented on the screen
- Remove the parcel from the locker and close the door when finished.
After removing the parcel, your pickup is complete and your tracking will now show the shipment has been delivered.
Rescheduling Pick Up Times
If your recipient has scheduled a pickup window using a Chit Chats locker and needs to reschedule, they can do so by following the ‘Reschedule it’ link available on their booking confirmation. Rescheduling a pickup window will be unavailable within 24 hours of the current booking. Once the reservation has been rescheduled, they will receive a new booking confirmation with the updated date and time. Should your customers need to make any additional rescheduling requests, they can do so by contacting our client support team at 1-844-842-8777.
The package will be available for pickup at our branch for a period of 7 business days. After the seventh business day the shipments will be processed for return. If you cannot collect your shipment within the pickup time frame, please contact our friendly Client Support team to extend the pickup date.
We will mark the shipment as 'delivered' once the package is successfully retrieved from our Chit Chats branch.
Returns with Chit Chats Collect
Undeliverable Returns: Shipments sent with Chit Chats Collect will be available for pickup at our branch for 7 business days. If the pickup date has not been extended, after the seventh business day, we will consider the shipment to be 'undeliverable' and we will begin processing it for a return to the sender. Processing fees for Chit Chats Collect return shipment are the same as the original postage cost, plus any additional fees associated with your preferred return method.
Customer Initiated Returns: Recipients who successfully collect their shipment from a Chit Chats branch but wish to return it to the seller, will need to contact the seller to make arrangements for return postage. Chit Chats Return Labels are currently not available for Chit Chats Collect shipments and any return shipments handled by Chit Chats will be subject to a $7 return processing fee.
Chit Chats Collect FAQ
Why is Chit Chats Collect not available for my shipment?
This service utilizes our network of branches to deliver shipments to your recipients for less. For that reason, it is only available to shipments whose delivery address is within 12 km of a Chit Chats branch.
If your recipient’s address is outside of this range, Chit Chats Collect will not show as an available postage option for that particular shipment. In that event, we recommend that you take advantage of our Chit Chats Canada Tracked postage option to deliver your shipment.
Can I pick up my Chit Chats Collect shipment at a Chit Chats Drop Spot?
As our Chit Chats Collect service utilizes our branch network to deliver an affordable shipping option, recipients must pick up shipments at one of our Chit Chats branches. For that reason, shipments cannot be picked up from any of our drop spot locations, including those in Atlantic Canada.
If you would like to send a package to an area where we do not currently have a Chit Chats branch, nearby we’d recommend using the Chit Chats Canada Tracked postage option.
I haven’t received a pickup notification, what do I do now?
If your shipment has passed the estimated delivery date and you have not received a pick up notification, we recommend that you check your spam folder as it may have been sent to junk mail.
Alternatively, your shipment may be affected by an unexpected delay and may require additional transiting time for it to be delivered to the branch for pick up. To find out more about current delays, please visit our Service Delays blog.
Can I pick up my shipment outside of the branch hours of operation?
Chit Chats Collect is a low-cost option that allows customers to pick up their items at a Chit Chats branch near them and save on shipping. Before you make the selection to ship with our most affordable Canadian service, we recommend that you choose a location that fits your schedule as all packages sent to participating branches must be picked up within their hours of operation.
As all Chit Chats lockers are located within Chit Chats branches, recipients picking up shipments will also need to plan to collect their packages during branch hours.
What if I cannot make it in to pick up my shipment during the branch hours of operation?
We understand the challenges that some recipients have making our current branch hours. If you anticipate being unable to pick up your shipment within the seven business day time frame, we recommend contacting Client Support to extend the pickup date. If you have reserved a Chit Chats locker for your shipment and need to reschedule, you can do so by following the ‘Reschedule it’ link available on your booking confirmation page. The option to reschedule will be available through this link up to 24 hours in advance of their previous booking. Any additional rescheduling requests can be made through our client support team at 1-844-842-8777.
If you are unable to reschedule your pickup window or contact our client support before the seventh business day to extend your pickup date, your shipment will be returned to the sender. At which point you will need to contact the seller to organize a reshipment of your item.
Why is a Chit Chats Locker not available for my shipment?
Chit Chats lockers are currently only available in a select number of Chit Chats branches in British Columbia and Ontario. If the option to pickup a shipment at a locker is not available in the drop down menu on the postage step, it is currently unavailable in your area. However, we plan to be expanding this se4rvice in the near future so stay tuned for updates!
