Chit Chats SmartDrop is an alternative for those who do not live near a Chit Chats location. With SmartDrop, you must place multiple Chit Chats shipments into one larger consolidated package and drop it off at a participating partner location. Your consolidated package is then transported to a Chit Chats facility, where we open it and process each individual shipment inside.
If you only have one package:
- Simply cover the shipping label you purchased through Etsy (the label displaying your customer's address) with a Labelope or a piece of paper. Make sure the Chit Chats label underneath is still accessible.
- Place your SmartDrop label beside the covered shipping label, ensuring that the barcodes do not overlap or interfere with one another so your package can be scanned correctly.

How does SmartDrop work?
1. Purchase your Etsy shipping labels: Purchase and print the shipping label for each individual shipment through Etsy. Attach the correct Chit Chats label securely to each package. *This service is not comptible with Chit Chat U.S. Connect as these shipments should be dropped of at your local postal authority.
2. Consolidate your shipments: Place all of the individual shipments you would like to send into one larger box or mailer. Make sure the consolidated package is securely closed and that each individual shipment inside already has its own shipping label attached.
If you only have one package, cover the shipping label you purchased through Etsy (the one displaying your customer's address) with a Labelope or a piece of paper. Make sure to indicate that the Chit Chats shipping label is underneath. Next, place your SmartDrop label beside the covered shipping label, making sure the barcodes do not overlap or interfere with scanning.
3. Create your free Chit Chats account: Create a free Chit Chats account and add credits to your account to cover the SmartDrop fee. Once signed in, select SmartDrop Your Shipments from the menu on the left-hand side.
4. Choose your SmartDrop location: Select the participating location where you would like to drop off your consolidated package. Be sure to drop off your package at the same carrier you selected when creating your SmartDrop label.
Because your individual Etsy shipments were purchased through Etsy, you do not need to worry about batching before using SmartDrop.
5. Enter your package details and print your SmartDrop label: Enter the dimensions and weight of your consolidated package. Purchase and print the SmartDrop label, then attach it securely to the outside of the consolidated package.
6. Drop off your consolidated package: Bring your package to the participating location you selected. From there, your consolidated package will be transported to the nearest Chit Chats processing facility. Once it arrives, our team will open the consolidated package, scan the individual shipments inside and begin processing them for their final destinations.
Tips & FAQs
What if my shipment is too large to fit inside another box or mailer?
If an individual shipment cannot be placed inside a larger consolidated package,
- place a copy of its Chit Chats shipping label inside the package.
- or attach the Chit Chats label to the outside, cover it with a plain sheet of paper and clearly write “Chit Chats label underneath.”
This helps prevent the individual shipping label from being scanned before the shipment reaches Chit Chats.
When will tracking update?
Once the participating location scans your consolidated SmartDrop package, the Chit Chats shipments inside will show as received, helping your recipients know that their shipments are on the way.
Are there size and weight limits?
Yes. Your consolidated SmartDrop package must stay within the following limits:
Maximum girth: 297 cm (117 in)
Maximum length: 112 cm (44 in)
Maximum weight: 22.6 kg (50 lb)
