Insurance in Canada is offered and administered through Hub International Ontario Limited/Hub Insurance Brokers and Continental Casualty Company Limited.

Once you have filed a claim for a shipment, you can check the status of your claim to see the progress or to upload additional information.

Chit Chats Insurance Claims

To check on the status of an open claim, click on the shipment in your Chit Chats account. Click the ‘File a claim’ link as you did when the claim was filed. You can also go directly to our insurer's website to check the status of a claim. You will need to know either your claim ID / number or your Chit Chats shipment ID.

This will take you to the status page for the original claims submission. You can find the progress of your claim under Status or by checking the status bar at the bottom of the page.

If you are required to provide supporting documentation, the status of your claim will change to ‘Waiting on Documents’. You may also receive an email from the Insurer requesting this information. You can upload documents such as email correspondence or send your buyer an affidavit from this page. Often you will be required to provide recipient contact details like email addresses or phone numbers in order for your claim to be reviewed.

Due to the delays that carriers are experiencing from the pandemic, timelines have been extended. If your claim was denied due to the shipment still being in transit, please wait an additional 14 business days before submitting a dispute to support@u-pic.com.

Note: The Insured will have one (1) year from the date postage was purchased to provide any required and/or additional documentation which has been requested of the Insured to substantiate said claim. In the case that required and/or additional documentation which has been requested goes ninety (90) days with no document submission will result in denial of the claim. Claim can be reopened upon submission of requested documents if documents are submitted within one (1) year from the date postage was purchased. Failure to provide the required and/or additional documentation within one (1) year from the postage purchase date will result in the denial of the claim.
