Depending on the service used there may be default carrier insurance. This is insurance covered by the carrier and included in the cost of the postage if applicable. Not all services include default insurance which is why we have partnered with Cabrella to provide Chit Chats Insurance. You can add this extra protection to your shipments to protect against loss or damage.
Carrier insurance coverage only takes effect once the partner carrier (e.g., USPS, Canada Post) has scanned and accepted the shipment. Shipments that are lost or damaged before the carrier's initial acceptance scan are not covered by carrier insurance.
Coverage
Carrier insurance is coverage provided by the carrier for select services or postage types. This type of insurance is included in the price of postage and often covers a fixed value. Additional insurance coverage for high-value shipments may be available through the carrier for an added cost.

However, please keep in mind that carrier insurance does not include coverage while the shipment is within Chit Chats’ service. You will need to confirm the specific terms and conditions of the insurance coverage with the carrier.

To have your claim reviewed, you’ll need to provide recipient contact information, such as an email address or phone number. Carrier insurance claims can also take longer to process than Chit Chats Insurance claims, as reimbursement is handled directly by the carrier. Learn more about claim timelines.
