Only once an insurance claim has been approved will reimbursement be sent out. Timelines vary with carriers and can take longer than claims with Chit Chats Insurance.
Chit Chats Insurance
Receiving reimbursement for your Chit Chats Insurance claim is quick and easy. Provided the information in the claims submission is accurate and complete, most Chit Chats Insurance claims are processed within 7-10 business days. If any additional documents were requested, please allow an extra 3-5 business days for them to be reviewed.
As the shipper and policy holder, you will receive reimbursement for an approved claim by cheque mailed to the address included in your claims submission. There is no additional wait period, so your cheque will be mailed to you upon your claim being approved. Cheques will be issued in USD and can be sent to your address in Canada.

Carrier insurance claims can take anywhere between 2-3 weeks and in some cases up to 90 days to be processed before you are reimbursed.
Reimbursement cheques from carriers for approved claims will be mailed to the address that is indicated in the claims submission. Please allow two weeks for cheques to be mailed to you. If you used Chit Chats U.S. return address as this address, your claims cheque will be sent through our returns process before it gets to you.
Depending on the carrier (i.e. USPS vs. Canpar), your claim may be paid out in USD or CAD. If you have any questions about the reimbursement of your claim, please follow up with the carrier for more information.
Chit Chats Canada Tracked
It can take up to 90 days for a carrier insurance claim for a Chit Chats Canada Tracked shipment to be reviewed. Chit Chats will file a claim on your behalf and regular updates on the status will be provided directly from our support team.
Chit Chats is considered to be the policyholder for Chit Chats Canada Tracked claims. It is important that all claims for Chit Chats Canada Tracked be filed directly with us and not with the carrier. Chit Chats will issue a cheque to you, the shipper, once your claim has been processed and approved by the carrier. Alternatively, you will have the option to receive your claim in the form of credits added to your account. We will contact you to confirm your preference.
