USPS International Returns

Only shipments sent with USPS International postage types are eligible for return service. If an international shipment sent with USPS is deemed undeliverable or it is refused by the customer, the shipment will make its way back to the original sender via the return address on the label.

To manage your USPS international returns, remember that you must have submitted your Power of Attorney (POA) document and register for CARM with CBSA. If you have requested that the package be returned, you should expect the transit time to be longer than the original delivery estimate. International returns pass through multiple customs checkpoints and carriers on their journey back to you resulting in longer transit times, approximately 30 days.

All return shipments must be able to be associated with a Chit Chats account (either with your client ID or client account name). If a return is unidentifiable or cannot be associated with an account, it will be disposed of or rejected.

Chit Chats International Tracked

Shipments sent with Chit Chats International Tracked postage do not include return service. If a package is undeliverable, the shipment will be disposed of and will not be returned to the sender.

Once the package has been deemed undeliverable, or if it has gone unclaimed, the tracking will update to show its return to the partner carrier. After it reaches their facilities it will be disposed of. As such Chit Chats Insurance claims cannot be filed for shipments marked as return to sender.

Be sure to clearly communicate your return policy with your customers as well as the risk associated with incorrect delivery addresses or unclaimed packages. If you anticipate a return for the order, we highly recommend that you select either the USPS First Class Package International or USPS Priority Mail International postage type so you can retrieve the items.
