To keep shipments safe and moving smoothly, there are limitations on the types of items that you can send with this service. Please refer to our partner carrier’s restrictions for more information. In order to use this service, you must include an HTS code for each product in your shipment, no matter the origin. 


Shipment Items

This postage type supports a maximum of 11 line items. This means you can ship up to 11 different products (in varying quantities) in one shipment. If your shipment contains more than 12 line items, this postage type will not be available. 

For example if you sold the following items to the same customer you could use this service: 

  • 1 x enamel pin

  • 5 x plastic sticker 

  • 1 x phone case plastic 

  • 1 x tshirt womens cotton 

  • 1 x keychain silver 

  • 2 x baby cotton socks

  • 3 x baby cotton bib

  • 2 x baby hair ribbons 

  • 3 x kids utensils

  • 2 x plastic plates

  • 4 x sippy cups

but if the order also contained the item bolded below you will not see this postage type available. 

  • 3 x baby cotton onesie

Consider consolidating similar items with the same COO & 10-digit HTS Code into one Shipment Item. For example, if your shipment contains four children’s books of different titles and all printed in the same country, rather than creating one shipment item per title, you can create one shipment item with the description ‘Children’s Books’

Buying Postage

There are two ways to buy Expedited Parcel USA postage for your shipments:

  1. “Create a Shipment” one at a time in your account

  2. Import multiple shipments via a connected store, the Chit Chats CSV or API

Thick envelopes and parcels are both compatible package types. You'll need to select one of these to receive an Expedited Parcel USA postage rate. Dimensions are required.

If you create shipments one at a time, you'll select the package type under the Package step. 

If you import shipments from your store, save time by updating your shipping presets. When you import your shipments with a CSV or API connection, use the following inputs:

package_type: thick_envelope, parcel

postage_type: canada_post_expedited_parcel_usa

Once you’re happy with the details for returns and insurance, you can select the shipments you want postage for and click on “Pay for Shipment”. Now you’re ready to print your postage labels!

Canada Post Expedited Parcel shipments print out two labels, the Postage Label and the Commercial Invoice. You must sign the bottom of the commercial invoice and both labels must be affixed to the outside of the parcel.

Sending Your Shipments

Once your shipments are ready to get to a Chit Chats, you’ll want to take a moment to get organized. Since Canada Post is the carrier for this postage type, these shipments can be sorted with your Canadian shipments. Batching is the way to go when you have a lot of shipments to send.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which currency are my postage fees displayed in?

All of our low-cost U.S. postage is displayed in Canadian dollars (CAD).


Where can I ship with Expedited Parcel USA?

You can ship to addresses in all 50 states including PO boxes and apartment addresses. Military addresses (i.e. APO, FPO, DPO) are also covered by Expedited Parcel USA.


What happens when I have a return?

Unlike other U.S. services, Expedited Parcel USA returns are not processed at our U.S. warehouse. Instead, USPS hands them over to our partner, Canada Post, which routes them to your nearest Chit Chats Regional Hub for return processing.


Note: The return processing cost is equal to the original postage cost. 


Is signature confirmation available?

No, signature confirmation is not available for Expedited Parcel USA, however your shipments will receive a delivery confirmation. If you would like to add signature confirmation to your U.S. shipments, please select the USPS Priority Mail postage option. 


Can I send letters with Expedited Parcel USA?

This service is designed specifically for thick envelopes and parcels. If you select the letter or flat envelope package type you won’t see Expedited Parcel USA in your postage options. We recommend giving the USPS First Class Mail and Oversized Letter services a try as they are ideal for U.S. letters and lightweight shipments.


Note: Data requirements for CBP are enforced for letters as they are for parcels.


Can I refund unused postage?

Yes, if you’re no longer sending your shipment with Expedited Parcel USA, you can request a refund for the unused postage label. Please make sure to do so within 7 days of purchasing your postage so we are able to process your refund immediately.
